NORCROSS, GA (March 31, 2010) – Unisource Worldwide, Inc., one of the leading distributors of paper, packaging and facility supplies in North America, has launched an extensive new line of protective packaging products under the Unisource brand.

The line includes a wide range of lightweight, flexible and cost-effective protective packaging solutions including: bubble cushioning, polyethylene foam and poly bubble mailers. Several of the products include recycled content that will appeal to businesses looking for environmental benefits coupled with performance. Unisource – an industry leader in corporate sustainability – recognizes the importance of providing packaging solutions that utilize recycled and recyclable products which are vital to the continued health and stability of the environment. The company has made a commitment to continue to bring environmentally responsible packaging innovations into the marketplace.

“In addition to traditional protective packaging products, we wanted to offer our customers pre- and post-consumer recycled content alternatives,” said Steve Mohr, Director of Marketing – Packaging for Unisource. “We also wanted to ensure that these products could meet or exceed performance requirements.”

The Unisource brand Bubble Cushioning line includes a virgin-grade option as well as two recycled content alternatives with up to 40 or 25 percent pre- and/or post-consumer waste, respectively. Similarly, Unisource’s Polyethylene Foam product offering is available in virgin grade with up to 35 percent post-industrial resin.

For customers requiring a single-material alternative, Unisource’s Poly Bubble Mailer product line is made entirely from polyethylene. Unlike other mailers, both the inner and outer layers are made from the same material which facilitates recycling without the need for material separation.

“The new Unisource-branded protective packaging line further advances the company’s goal of providing the marketplace with packaging solutions that deliver the best possible protection and overall value, as well as reducing dependence on raw virgin materials,” Mohr said.
