Kansas City, MO – May 31, 2012 – Fairbanks Scales, Inc., the oldest scale company in the U.S., is announcing the release of the Omega Counting Scale, a counting scale featuring a comprehensive set of functions designed to streamline material handling, inventory, parts kit creation and general weighing applications. Omega’s broad-based feature set is a direct result of extensive research and real-world customer input. Using the voice of the customer, Fairbanks has developed a single counting scale capable of meeting our customers’ diverse, real-world needs.

Today’s advanced lean manufacturing and inventory techniques are fine-tuned to manage and maintain quality and accuracy. The Omega Counting Scale is a capable tool used to verify accuracy in manufacturing and inventory controls. Agile businesses will use this scale to increase productivity, maintain superior accuracy and increase their own customers’ satisfaction.

Counting scales use the known weight of individual parts, or a sample of known parts, to yield a piece count. Piece count data is useful in a variety of applications. For example, creating parts kits with sufficient and accurate quantities. Other examples include bulk counting for inventory needs and even creating accurate invoices. The Omega Counting Scale features 5 different methods of sampling – or inferring quantity based on weight. Users will find that the wide range of sampling functions offers flexibility meeting a range of needs.

While the Omega Counting Scale is a capable counting scale, it offers a host of other industry leading features that enhance productivity. Omega is capable of storing up to 999 user-defined, known product weights for quick access and results. An accumulation feature is included and it reports final totals and number of weighments processed to the operator. A limit function is included working as a go/no-go process with audible alarms ensuring exact quantities are reached. The Omega Counting Scale is compatible with barcode scanning and can produce custom barcode labels based on user-defined criteria. Remote floor scales can be connected to Omega and automatically process larger quantities of product based off of smaller sample sizes. The Omega Counting Scale is fully functional with AC power, or by using the integrated re-chargeable battery.

The Omega Counting Scale is immediately available through Fairbanks’ nationwide sales and service organization.
