a2b Fulfillment, a third-party logistics provider with a specialty in consumer-direct order fulfillment and customer service, announces a successful effort to distribute food to needy families in association with Second Harvest in Greene and Putnam Counties, Georgia.

On Saturday July 20th a2b Fulfillment sponsored the monthly food distribution event. In addition to the sponsorship, many employees from a2b Fulfillment donated their time to staff the effort, which distributed over 19,000 pounds of food to 181 area families. “The total value of the food distributed was nearly $18,000, or $100 per family” says Denis Pepin, President of Second Harvest.

Employees from a2b have long been supporters of Second Harvest. One Saturday per month, a2b volunteers assist with general logistics issues. “Having a2b Fulfillment employees assisting on the food distribution program is a huge help. They are super organized, and know how to work as a team to handle the work,” added Pepin.

Ayal Latz, President of a2b Fulfillment expressed his pride with the effort. “Our employees recognize that giving back to their community is the right thing to do. They volunteer their time and energy to help make Second Harvest programs successful.”

About Second Harvest
Second Harvest, Inc. is the signature project of the Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties. Our mission is to eliminate hunger in Greene and Putnam Counties. We believe that food shortage is a matter of logistics; that is, efficiently using all available resources to acquire excess food and distribute it to those in need. Food for the program is obtained through leveraging cash donations, “rescuing” excess and unneeded food from the local Ritz Carlton Hotel and Publix Super Markets, and through an accredited partnership with Golden Harvest, a food distribution agency of the Feeding America program. To date, over 700,000 pounds of food has been distributed, including over 100,000 pounds of “rescued” food. For more information, contact Denis Pepin at 847-769-5565.
