AUSTIN, Texas – In March 1991, Lone Star Overnight (now LSO) opened its doors for business, servicing just a handful of metropolitan areas and transporting seven packages on its first day of operation. In the 25 years since that humble beginning, the Austin, Texas-based regional overnight package delivery company has grown exponentially to now deliver thousands of packages every business day to nearly 4,000 ZIP codes in Texas, Oklahoma; Louisiana; Arkansas; Alabama; Tennessee; and Mexico.

“For the past 25 years, our entire LSO team has been dedicated to providing superior service for our customers while servicing the shipping needs of small and mid-sized shippers to Fortune 500 shippers. In addition, we continue to research and evaluate new markets for regional expansion and growth opportunities,” said Rick Jones, CEO of LSO. “We believe one of the primary keys to our continued growth and success has been our ability to guarantee reliable, efficient overnight delivery service at a substantially lower price than our competitors, especially with our express overnight service,” said Jones.

In the last year alone, LSO has achieved many significant milestones:

  • Regional Expansion into Louisiana: LSO has continued to improve operationally, expanding its regional footprint and innovating throughout 2015 which allowed the company to continue to provide excellent shipping value versus the global carriers and help keep its rates lower. In May 2015, LSO announced the expansion of its shipping services to include all major cities and zip codes throughout Louisiana, including Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Metairie, New Orleans, Monroe and Shreveport. The extension of services into Louisiana greatly complemented LSO’s broad expanse of parcel delivery services already widely available throughout the south.

  • Safety First: LSO Deploys SmartDrive and Improves Safety: In July 2015, LSO adopted SmartDrive Systems video-based safety program that drives performance solutions that improve fuel efficiency and reduce collisions. LSO selected SmartDrive's technology as part of its commitment to enhance the company's safety program. Since implementing SmartDrive, LSO has improved its safety score by 47 percent, which has a direct correlation to reduction in crash rate, and has benefitted from enhanced visibility to key areas to focus on for continuous period-over-period improvement.

  • Regional Expansion into Arkansas, Alabama and Tennessee: Just this January, LSO announced official entry into major markets in the southeastern states of Tennessee, Alabama and Arkansas. The expansion of shipping services includes new cities and zip codes throughout the three states. By expanding shipping services in these key markets, LSO now greatly extends its footprint throughout three key southern states while providing continued momentum to provide the best regional parcel delivery services to customers across the southeastern United States.

"We've always been committed to listening to what our customers want and need and then responding with the products and services that meet those requests", said Jones.
