London, 29 September 2011 – Logistics company SBS Worldwide has teamed up with book distributor Ingram to offer its client publishers a range of supply chain services that will deliver cost savings and greater visibility when they source books from overseas.

The deal will provide Ingram’s clients with greater visibility of their titles right down to ISBN level via SBS Worldwide’s innovative tracking and supply chain management software, Electronic Distribution Centre (eDC).

The eDC system gives everyone in the supply chain process – operations, production, logistics, accounts and field sales teams – access to the information they need in real time, telling them where books are, when delivery can be expected, from order placement, through print and onto final delivery.

SBS and Ingram will also consolidate on major freight lanes and offer competitive rates on global transportation from a range of international carriers.

Lisa White, International Transportation Manager at Ingram, stated: “Sourcing books from Asia is easy, but getting complete visibility of where those books are from order to delivery is hard.

“SBS’s eDC system gives a level of reassurance and visibility that you simply cannot find anywhere else and we are looking forward to offering these benefits to our client publishers.”

Steve Walker, Chairman at SBS Worldwide, commented: “Our services, particularly eDC, are growing in popularity amongst the publishing community who require more effective management over their supply chains as they become more complex and multifaceted.”

He continued: “Tracking and managing multiple consignments as they travel across the globe has always been a challenge for publishers who have never been able to pin down the exact whereabouts of their books with any real degree of accuracy. Our partnership with Ingram will empower publishers to take control of their supply chains like never before and revolutionise the way they do business.”
