Wiesbaden, March 10, 2016 – Digital networking in logistics is on the rise. Real time data flow and intelligent systems that communicate with each other have already become reality in distribution centers. Rapidly growing shipment volumes and returns management in online business and the increasing complexity of supply chains call for integrated solutions. “Auto-ID systems are an important part of the digital value chain,” Torben Posert, Head of Sales Logistics Automation at VITRONIC Dr.-Ing. Stein Bildverarbeitungssysteme GmbH, explains. “These systems allow specific processes to be optimized, connected and analyzed.”

Integrated solution DWS

True to the motto “Smart Supply Chain Solutions”, VITRONIC will showcase its portfolio of innovative products and solutions for both logistics and the CEP sector (Courier, Express and Parcel services) at CeMAT 2016 in Hanover. The machine vision experts focus on Auto-ID solutions that guarantee a smooth flow of both material and data. The DWS-systems combine three steps (DWS stands for Dimensioning, Weighing, Scanning) and enable the processing of the captured data. “Leading parcel and express service providers employ our solution all over the world within their hubs to optimize throughput times and process quality,” Posert explains.

Premiere for smart line-scan camera

At CeMAT, VITRONIC will reveal the next generation line-scan camera VICAM 3S. The high-performance camera offers three major benefits within one unit: smart – An integrated evaluation unit onboard the camera enables plug & play operation as a stand-alone system, small – The compact design, with a width of only 45 cm and around 40 percent less weight, simplifies the handling and installation of the line scan camera, synchronized – The system reads, processes and transmits the data whilst the goods pass through and benefits from optimum read results. This includes the secure capturing of barcodes, 2D codes and characters, irrespective of their orientation on the packages, large letters or
polybags.

The volume measurement system VOLUMEC HD precisely captures the dimensions of rectangular objects, or of any other objects on conveyor belts and sorters. The product has been approved for legal-for-trade applications in accordance with the Measurement Instruments Directive (MID). This enables associated processes, as it is possible to generate invoices automatically and compare package information with the measured data on the customer-side, based on the tamper-proof stored data.

International service network expands

Alongside innovative products and services, VITRONIC also presents an extended service package at the trade show. With Lifetime Services, the machine vision specialist offers a bundle of numerous additional future areas, such as the VITRONIC Academy, with special training modules and training courses for a range of different application fields and requirements. To ensure smooth operation of its systems, the service modules Preventive and Corrective Maintenance are available, providing ongoing support, regular maintenance as well as preventive and unscheduled repair work. With the expansion of additional international services, VITRONIC is strengthening its position in the logistics automation sector and helping its customers to benefit from over 30 years of experience in industrial machine vision.
