CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.—March 1, 2011 (James Street Media Services)—Kenco Logistic Services LLC (KLS), one of the most respected names in the third-party logistics (3PL) industry, is proud to announce that its Whirlpool Corporation distribution center in Orlando, Florida has been awarded the distinction of being named a WERC Certified Facility.
To earn this distinction, the WERC program provides an industry-standard grading methodology that includes facility inspection and process assessment by an independent third party. The program is voluntary and certifies an individual warehouse facility’s capabilities and its ability to perform core warehousing functions.
"We are proud of this accomplishment, and I am pleased to have achieved it with one of our leading 3PLs, Kenco," says Kevin A. O’Meara, senior director, supply chain operations, NAR, Whirlpool Corporation. "Kenco supports our critical supply chain requirements, and the WERC certification confirms that we work together effectively to provide the best service in the appliance industry."
“As a company, Kenco is dedicated to operational excellence,” says Andy Smith, KLS president and COO. “But it is the daily attention to detail by each individual member of our team that made this achievement possible.”
Kenco’s team at the Whirlpool facility includes: Hank Gonzalez, general manager; Pete Bradley, operations manager; Darrell Matthew, warehouse supervisor; Joshua King, site logistics engineer; and Mark Ziccardi, inventory manager.
“As the recognized leader in education and research for the warehouse, distribution and logistics industry, WERC focuses on advancing the art and science of warehousing/distribution and driving the warehouse profession to new levels,” says Michael J. Mikitka, WERC’s chief executive officer. “WERC is pleased to award the Kenco Whirlpool Orlando, Florida facility with this certification. We congratulate both management and associates in their pursuit of best practice and continuous improvement.”
