ELK GROVE VILLAGE, Ill. (October 13, 2014) – Wynright Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Daifuku Webb and a leading U.S.-based provider of intelligent material handling systems, today announced that Awana® Clubs International, a global, nonprofit organization, has again turned to Wynright for its expansion project.
To enhance its distribution center workflow, Awana has incorporated six custom-designed steel packing tables built by Wynright Structural Solutions into its material handling system. The award-winning Structural Solutions team specializes in designing and building mezzanines and other steel support structures. Besides the packing tables, the project also calls for hundreds of feet of conveyor to interface with Awana’s three production lines at its 60,000-sq. ft. warehouse in Schaumburg, Ill.
This current initiative is the latest in a 30-year relationship between Wynright and Awana. Over that time span, Wynright has assisted Awana in re-engineering its warehouse operations, successfully meet its order fulfillment challenges, and improve its materials handling processes.
“Wynright has played a major role in helping us manage our growth as we entered new markets,” said Steve Hale, Awana’s. “The Director of Distribution company
has taken a keen interest in our development, ensuring that we improve efficiencies and maximize available warehouse space – which requires developing a solid long-term plan and dividing the project into stages. Wynright isn’t pushing products. It’s providing smart, engineered solutions as our trusted, experienced partner.”
Awana creates and distributes more than 2,200 products, which include religious educational materials, such as print and video curricula, uniforms and apparel, children’s games, motivational items, and, as such, ships as much as 3.2 million pieces each year. Recently, the company effectively doubled its volume by providing order-fulfillment services to other Christian nonprofit organizations, thereby creating a third-party logistics business.
“We’re grateful for our long-standing partnership with Awana and for the opportunity to work with a terrific organization,” said Don DeSimone, Director of Warehouse Equipment Sales at Wynright. “The company has honed its expertise in third-party logistics and supply chain best practices over decades to offer something never done before – being the leading nonprofit 3PL in the market.”
Wynright’s Warehouse Equipment Store not only offers a broad array of industrial and commercial supplies and equipment but also a high level of engineering support, experience and expert advice to help address tough storage, workflow and other material handling and supply chain issues.
