National Geographic and 3PL, OHL, have entered into a new contract for distribution of National Geographic’s products direct to consumers. The two companies began working together in 2008 and have executed projects both in the US and UK.
OHL provides direct to consumer fulfillment from one centrally-located US distribution center. Five hundred thousand orders including maps, gifts and books are filled annually in a 60,000 square foot operation. OHL provides value added services such as map folding, gift boxing, and personal note insertion for customers of National Geographic. OHL also provides quality assurance for all inbound and outbound products.
“We are pleased to enter into an extended contract with the OHL team in support of our catalog and online business,” commented Linda E. Berkeley, President of National Geographic Enterprises. “OHL’s commitment to service excellence and flexibility are two key reasons we wanted to continue working with them. Because our business is extremely seasonal, we needed a partner that could effectively flex labor and equipment to meet our peak holiday season requirements. OHL has proven that they can provide both excellent service and cost effective solutions to meet the needs of National Geographic and our customers.”
“National Geographic and OHL are a great fit culturally, which helps us maintain a successful relationship,” said Bob Spieth, President of Contract Logistics at OHL. “The direct to consumer channel continues to grow and we enjoy helping our customers succeed in this dynamic marketplace.”
