(Kennesaw, GA) - October 17, 2011 - During a recent ground-breaking in Hanover, Pennsylvania, Clarks Companies, North America (CCNA) announced that Knapp Logistics Automation, Inc. has been selected to provide all material handling systems for its' state of the art Logistics Center. The facility will employ leading-edge technology capable of supporting volumes of up to fifty-million pairs annually; a feat the company believes will better support growing demand from customers and retailers. The site of the new building is located directly across from the company's current Logistic Center and is slated to be occupied by the end of 2012. When completed, the building will be 451,000 square feet and will approach 80 feet high.

"During the design and selection process, Knapp's innovative solution combined with their willingness to work with the Clarks team were key items that allowed them to differentiate their company from other vendors," said Len Bucher, Vice President of Logistics for Clarks NA.

To equip Clarks for highly efficient operations and ergonomic material handling from unloading to shipping, the Logistics Center was value engineered by Knapp to include technology that has revolutionized MHE markets in the past 10 years. At the core of this system is the OSR ShuttleTM, which is used for Goods-to-Person picking, buffering, storage and sequencing. This proven system offers an optimized combination of storage density, speed and reliability, thus making it ideally suited for Clarks current and growing business demands. Optimal use of building height, flexibility in balancing workloads between functional operations and low energy consumption with OSR ShuttleTM technology also compliments Clarks' LEED requirements.

Josef Mentzer, Knapp US COO, stated, "Based on a uniquely different concept, our solution utilized Knapp's extensive engineering expertise and broad technology portfolio to create a flexible, progressive system to support Clarks' order processes and future growth."
