PLANTATION, Fla. June 25, 2007 DHL, the worlds leading express delivery and logistics company, today introduced the most competitive service available for urgent next day documents from New York City to major European destinations. Customers in financial services, banking, insurance, advertising, publishing, or other industries where document delivery is critical can now receive next day delivery to nine major business centers across Europe at no additional cost.
Available for customers with shipments originating from lower Manhattan, DHLs next day delivery trip begins with the pickup of urgent material by courier for transfer to the DHL helicopter pad in New York City. Shipments are then flown by helicopter directly to John F. Kennedy (JFK) airport, avoiding New York City traffic. From there, they move on flights bound for nine cities in Europe.
Available Monday thru Thursday, the new offering gives customers the ability to get their shipments delivered next business day from New York City to Amsterdam, Holland; Brussels, Belgium; Dublin, Ireland; Frankfurt, Germany; Geneva, Switzerland; London, England; Madrid, Spain; Paris, France; and Zurich, Switzerland. Next day by 12:00 noon delivery is available to some of the main financial centers in Europe.
The Interdependence between the US and Europe and volume of transactions between the business centers of both requires a service that can facilitate time critical transactions, said Lindsay Birley, executive vice president of International, for DHL. Customers in New York City with urgent material for their European branches or European customers can now receive the most competitive offering available in the industry. DHLs next day service to Europe is one of many ways DHL is enhancing its offerings from, to, and within the US that are uniquely built around our customers needs, continued Birley.
For more than two decades, DHL has been leveraging its Manhattan helicopter to serve the financial district, and is the only express shipper to provide continual same day and overnight delivery of cash letters from Europe and Asia to the US banking system -- a service vital to the worlds leading financial institutions. By cutting as much as a day off the time in transit for these shipments, financial institutions and their customers can save millions of dollars each year in otherwise lost interest and delayed business transactions.

DHL's next day delivery service to Europe is the latest in a series of enhancements and upgrades to DHL's international network. DHL recently announced the opening of a new international gateway in Hermosillo, Mexico, as well as a new gateway earlier this year in Merida, Mexico both to meet the growing needs of DHL customers shipping across the US-Mexico border. DHL also upgraded service for International Express shipments to the US market, and enhanced service along the transatlantic route to provide next day delivery to the U.S. from major European cities. Additional recent DHL network initiatives include a new international gateway in Southern California to enhance transit times to and from Asia-Pacific and the Western US, and the launch of the DHL North America Trade Lane initiative late last year to expedite cross-border shipments for U.S., Canadian and Mexican companies.
