The Memphis Business Journal has reported that "A key component to meeting the initiative’s goals of doubling exports and adding 2 million new jobs will be carried out by global shipping companies FedEx Corp., United Parcel Service Inc. and the U.S. Postal Service. The increased focus on exporting is expected to create new resources and opportunities for businesses already dabbling in foreign markets. The relationship between the federal government’s exporting agencies and FedEx could be an added bonus for companies in FedEx’s own backyard. Suresh Kumar, an assistant secretary of commerce and director general of the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service, says shippers like FedEx will play a vital role in identifying companies that have some export experience but would like to expand.
