RALEIGH, NC, February 4, 2011 — Bruce Tompkins, executive director of the Tompkins Supply Chain Consortium, has been named one of this year’s “Provider Pros to Know in the Supply Chain Industry” by Supply & Demand Chain Executive magazine.
“Our annual list of Provider Pros to Know highlights the many thought-leaders who are helping to shape the supply chain industry and advance supply chain as a respected discipline in the enterprise," said Barry Hochfelder, editor of Supply & Demand Chain Executive. “Their efforts in developing the tools, processes and knowledge base necessary for supply chain transformation, and in promoting new approaches to supply chain enablement, have earned them a place on this year's listing.”
Under Tompkins’ leadership, the Tompkins Supply Chain Consortium has grown to more than 500 company members and includes an annual Supply Chain Leadership Forum for executives to learn about benchmarking, network with peers and compare notes.
He is on the cutting edge of supply chain research and thought leadership, producing surveys and reports that provide consortium members with the latest trends in end-to-end supply chain processes – Buy, Make, Move, Store, Sell, Return.
With nearly 30 years of progressive operations experience, Bruce Tompkins holds expertise ranging from traditional industrial engineering to manufacturing, materials management, logistics, and benchmarking and best practices. Prior to joining Tompkins Associates, he was Vice President/General Manager of Operations for Maytag Herrin Laundry Products. Tompkins received his B.S. in Industrial and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois and his M.S. in Industrial Engineering and Management from Oklahoma State University.
