Ann Arbor, Michigan Julie Knakal has been named SurplusTrack General Manager by Managing Partner and Founder Brent David Ray, effective immediately.
 
In her role, Knakal will run the day-to-day operations of Surplus Track, a division of SmartMRO, a leading Integrated Services Management (ISM) solution provider that is supplier, brand and equipment agnostic. Knakal has been with SurplusTrack for two years and has designed and implemented processes for sorting, cataloging and tracking vast amounts of consigned surplus inventory and facilitated culture of lean process management.
 
Knakal also has developed training materials for all steps of the process and reported inventory progress and sales results to sellers among her many duties.
 
The Walled Lake, Mich. resident previously worked as a project engineer for Johnson Controls and a systems engineer for General Dynamics Land Systems. Knakal will receive her MBA from the
University of Michigan in December.
 
Before becoming general manager, Knakal was inventory manager and research engineer for SurplusTrack, a cost-effective, business-to-business excess and obsolete (E&O) solution that utilizes advanced Web-based technology to connect industrial and commercial trading partners.
 
Since the SmartMRO partnership was created between TrackSpeed, LLC (
Ann Arbor, MI) and Forge Industries, Inc. (Youngstown, OH) in July, 2007 the combined company headcount has increased to 37 employees. In just six weeks SmartMRO has engaged with three Fortune 100 clients and expects to triple revenue in the next six months.
