Following on the heels of FedEx recent announcement of a net 3.9% increase, DHL has announced an average 5% rate increase, effective January 1, 2013. DHL provided few specific details, other than stating that the increase in Germany will be 4.9%. The 2013 DHL increases appear to be slightly higher than those in 2012. Once DHL releases the actual rate charts and accessorial charge increases, AFMS will provide a complete country-by-country analysis.

Here are the 2012 DHL rate increases:
    • Asia Pacific: 4.5% increase to most APAC.
    • Europe: 3.5% international, 5% domestic.
    • Finland: 4.9%.
    • Germany: 3.5%.
    • Latin America and Caribbean: 3.5% net. 5.5% increase, offset by a 2% reduction in the fuel surcharge index.
    • Switzerland: 2%.
